What is a Primary Health Care Centre?
A Primary Health Care Centre provides access for a wide range of community services. Primary Health Care Centres are a relatively new concept in Manitoba. The centre provides "one-stop shopping" for health care services for the residents of the area, including physician clinic services, laboratory services, and nurse-run clinics, with an emphasis on health promotion and illness prevention in addition to the treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. Public health, mental health, clinical dietitian, home care, social work, and diabetes education services are also offered at Kin Place Primary Health Care Centre. These are community-based services that have been in place for some time, and will continue to be offered to the community.
Primary health care also focuses on the health of the population. This means that the health care professionals at Kin Place Primary Health Care Centre are looking to maintain and improve the health of the entire population of Springfield and area. The health programs developed by the Primary Health Care Centre will be based on priority health needs as identified by the community. Community consultations will be held in the development of programs.
The North Eastman Health Association Inc. along with Manitoba Health is focusing on Primary Health Care as a means to improve the health status of the residents of the North Eastman Region.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to our residents for their feedback and cooperation. It is indeed a distinct privilege for the Region to articulate the above to you, our stakeholders. As we move forward, the Region
